Our Bed & Breakfast Guest House Riad La Kahana is situated near the Square Bab Mellah in a quiet street, accessible only to pedestrians, at the heart of the historic Medina of Marrakech (UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE).
Our Riad is a traditional Moroccan style house with two stories built around an Andalusian-style courtyard containing a fountain and serving as dining room. The Riad is inward focused which allows for privacy and protection from the weather. and heat This inward focus is expressed with a centrally placed interior courtyard and the lack of windows on the exterior walls of clay and mud bricks reinforced with concrete and steel .
The walls of our Riad are adorned with tadelakt plaster and zellige tiles. All our rooms are equipped with an individual shower and toilet as well as an aircon. Bed sheets, soap and shampoo are provided without extra charge. WIFI is available in the whole Riad. Hair dryer is available on request.
Due to the damages caused by the recent earthquake it was necessary to totaly renovate the Riad. Fortunately the building's structure was not damaged.
We aim to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Our staff is trained to respect your privacy and will only act if you require it.
You walk 10 minutes and are at the famous Square Jamaa el Fnaa and the Souk. Palais Bahia can be reached in 5 minutes.
There are many small restaurants and gift shops nearby.
Our Riad has served for more than a century as home of Marrakchi families until it was completely renovated and turned into today's Guest House in 2006.
It is furnished and decorated in the classic sober Berber style and will give you the feeling of living in a house of a Marrakchi family in a time gone by. Only one room (Suite la Kahana) has a television.
Our contribution to climate change are two solar panels which are heating our water all year around (340 sunny days).
Water in Marrakech is a scarce comodity (drought for the last two years) we therefore have decided against a swimmingpool and manage water as carefuly as possible.
If required we book for our guests their transport from and to the airport/train station by private limousine (see transport).
From beginning of February to end of April we offer Bed & Breakfast long term renting (minimum 3 weeks), prices according to choice of room but not exceeding Euros 1400.00 per room max. 2 persons/month/with breakfast. Price will be communicated on request.
There is always (24h/7days a week) one member of the staff present at the Guesthouse.
Moroccan law allows us to rent a room to a couple of Moroccan/foreign or Moroccan/Moroccan nationality (valid national passports have to be presented at check-in) only if they are in posession of a valid moroccan marriage certificate.
If you book your room directly with us we offer a reduction of 15% on our room rates!
Payment by CASH only (Euros or Moroccan Dirham). Room rates have to be paid at checkin and your consumptions the evening before your departure.
Riad La Kahana is under Swiss management since 2006.
